Higgledy-Piggledy

(composed 7th April 2016)

This piece is quite difficult to play fluently at high speed. I began to write the opening section in the key of C which wasn’t too bad but I needed a flatter (less twinkly) mood and transposed down a 6th to A flat. I meant to write a piece called ‘The Rag Trade’ but it all seemed a bit ‘Higgledy-Piggledy’

Forgiveness

I finally treated myself to some reasonable string samples (GPO5) and I am still testing the slow strings in this composition as I did in my previous effort (Faith). It is still not quite as agreeable as I hoped but I’m sure I will eventually learn the tricks with time. I think it now definitely needs more string style dynamics so I now need a keyboard with a mod-wheel and probably an organ style swell pedal. I will continue  my quest to save some more pennies.
